Start Your Own Phone
Answering Service
By Randy Wilson A phone answering service business is probably one of the
easiest service businesses that you can start. It does not
involve a lot of risk, has a low start-up cost and does not
require any special expertise. What is really needed is a
pleasant voice, good telephone manners, tactful answering
strategies and of course, a passion to mind your own
business.
Estimated start-up costs and financing sources:
The start-up costs for this business are relatively low. All
you need when you first start out is a phone and a phone
line for each of your clients. This will probably cost you
around $200 per phone line with phone rentals of less than
$50 a month. Even if you prefer to purchase your own
physical phone, each of them will cost less than a $100,
which is fairly cheap to start a business with. You can also
name each phone with the name of the company that you are
representing.
Pricing guidelines for service:
In general, a basic call answering service costs a client
$50 - $60 for 60 to 100 calls. Additional calls will be
charged at $0.30 to $0.50 each call. This service is only
for answering calls and does not include any other services.
Clients are also charged line rentals of $15 - $20 a month.
Paging service will be an additional $20 to $30 a month.
Advertising and marketing methods and tips:
You will probably need to cold call for clients during the
early part of your business. Locate listings of your target
customers in phone books, newspapers and local community
boards. You can also target potential clients who may need
telemarketing services which you can provide also. These
would be businesses such as employment agencies, pet
services, collection agencies, restaurants and travel
agencies. Marketing efforts will take time to materialize,
but you will soon see results as long as you are persistent
and patient.
Essential equipment:
You will initially need a phone and a phone line for each
client that you are providing phone answering services for.
As your business grows, you may want to utilize computer
software to track your calls and your messages, as well as
manage your business operations as well.
Recommended training, experience, or needed skills:
Running an answering service business requires personality
and a good speaking voice rather than any specific trained
skills. Speaking properly and clearly with good diction and
excellent grammar would definitely be a plus point for this
business.

Article Writing As A
Homebased Business
By Marie Soriano Global access to information have enabled the homebased
business ideas searcher the ability to find available work
at home jobs. In our present time, opportunities opened up
for every citizen in any country who are looking for
homebased work.
There are real job opportunities available in the online
world. Most of them involved anything that has to do with
computer encoding, knowledge of using a word processor
program, website design, etc. etc. The list goes on and on.
Article writing is one of those interestingly growing online
job that is becoming popular among online job seekers. And
why not? All a person has to do is write an article or ghost
write for someone who needs documents to post on a website.
This work at home job is not anymore a phenomenon
considering ghost writing has been around since college term
papers were introduced. College students who are too lazy or
too busy to write their own essays brings the job to a
classmate who has an interest in writing in exchange for
money.
Now, article writing is a different perspective than that.
Most website owners and webmasters are too busy with growing
their business. Or some doesn't know how to put their ideas
in writing and asks someone to write it for them. Maybe some
are lazy, too.
Whatever the reason, article writing is something any work
at home job seekers should seriously look into and explore.
As in any kind of work, article writing has requirements,
but it's not that difficult. Let's discuss some important
ones:
The prospective work at home job seeker must have a computer
and internet at home, or at least have access to one. This
is very important because webmasters or web designers
constantly look for writers online. And if you don't have
access to a computer, how do you think you can do your
writing job? Even if you're the most talented writer in the
world, you MUST have this one very important requirement.
You have to be very comfortable surfing the web, looking out
constantly for that job opportunity in forums, freelance
sites or writers websites. Of course as in the offline life,
you have to look for that job and not the other way around.
Finding where the work is has become easier, if you know
where to look for it.
Writing doesn't have to be your passion to get into this
opportunity. But perseverance to learn, analyze ideas and
constant practice is a must have attitude to succeed in this
business.
Marie Soriano is a
work-at-home mom and the owner of the website Homebased
Business Ideas, where she reveals tips, tricks and
information on how to put up your own homebased business.

Create a Podcast Radio Show
in Hours, with No FCC Rules or Regulations
By Jeff Mills
Interested in a new, cutting-edge tool that can reach
millions of potential customers? Then you are looking for
PODCASTING!
And unlike radio shows, which are transfered through the air
in radio waves, and regulated and controlled by the FCC,
there are no regulations or rules for podcasting, as long as
you don't use copyprotected property.
A podcast is an audio file stored on the Internet that
customers can download to their computers or MP3 players and
listen to whenever they want.
Now, you may be thinking, “So what - MP3 files have been
available for download from the internet for years!” Well,
what makes podcasting different and truly useful as business
tool is that customers can subscribe to programs they are
interested in. This means that free and easy-to-use
podcasting software automatically downloads new podcasts to
your customers’ computers as soon as they are available.
Just how big is the potential reach of podcasting? Consider
these numbers from the Pew Internet & American Life Project.
According to their research:
[o] More than 22 million US adults own an iPod or other MP3
player – 13% of men and 9% of women
[o] 20% of the lucrative 18- to 28-year-old market owns an
iPod or other MP3 player
[o] 29% of the people who own an iPod or MP3 player have
downloaded a podcast
This translates to 6 million U.S. adults who have downloaded
podcasts – a truly impressive figure considering podcasting
is still a relatively new technology.
The keys to the early success of podcasting is that it
offers great choice and convenience, plus ANYONE can do it
with the right tools.
o Offer Your Customers Choice
Podcasts can be about any topic you can think of. They might
be music, a talk show, a lecture, a recorded tele-seminar, a
sermon, etc. Possible applications for podcasting include:
- Interviewing authors and leaders in your industry, then
offering the interviews through a podcast on your website.
- Offering late-breaking industry news.
- Offering in-depth information to niche customers.
- Medical organizations can offer podcasts on such topics as
bariatric (weight loss) surgery, diabetes control, glaucoma,
alternative medicine, and more.
- Religious organizations can use podcasts to distribute
weekly sermons, missionary updates, extol their beliefs and
offerings, and otherwise share their message, globally, as
long as listeners have an internet connection.
- Preschools and Day Care Centers can offer parenting tips.
- Universities can offer audio lectures, student calendars
and orientation, and campus tours.
- Travel agents can offer audio tours of popular cities.
- Chambers of Commerce can introduce potential tourists,
conventions, and businesses to their cities.
- Museums and historic sites can offer private guided tours
of their facilities.
- Conference presenters can offer podcasts of their sessions
for people who were unable to attend the live events and
save on postage and fulfillment costs.
- Companies and non-profit organizations can offer training
to their employees and volunteers.
o Offer Your Customers Convenience
If you publish or plan to publish any type of audio file for
your customers – whether audio newsletters, teleconference
calls, interviews, lectures, etc. – podcasting simplifies
everything for both you and your customers.
Once customers subscribe to your podcast, you won’t have to
worry about sending them an email to download a new MP3.
Instead, your message will land directly on your customers’
desktops every time you create a new podcast.
The convenience continues even after the download. Once the
podcasts are downloaded to your customers’ computers, they
can synch them to your MP3 player, burn them to a CD, or
simply listen to them through their computer speakers. In
other words, customers can subscribe to your podcast,
download it, and take it with them as they go out jogging or
commute to the office.
Best of all, not only are podcasts themselves generally
free, but so is most of the podcasting software your
customers will need to listen to podcasts!
Both podcasts and podcasting software are easy to find on
the internet and are easy to use.

Unusual Business Opportunities
- Earn Money By Giving Away Education
By Jaz Lai There are thousands of different business
opportunities out there. Some are good and some aren't. I would
have to say one of my favorite and most successful business
opportunities is also one of my most unusual business
opportunities. I found this opportunity about 3 months ago and
within this short time I have grown the business to make it pay
a monthly income of $1,000. How did I achieve this income?
Simply by giving away free education through Success University. When I began my first online business around 2 years ago, I
wanted to sell things to make an income, so I was driven towards
selling products and e-books. The problem was that original good
quality products are hard to create. To make things worse, I
wasn't much good at copy writing and the sales letters that I
was producing weren't doing my products justice.
Along with this was the fact that I had no knowledge on how to
market a product and had not set up vital parts of my business
to ensure that I would have a running chance at making an
income. Without tools such as auto-responders, website tracking,
e-mails and product fulfillment, sales were scarce.
Things didn't look good for me. I was really hitting rock bottom
until I come across some proven, unusual business opportunities.
By finding unusual online businesses such as Success University,
I had the opportunity to give away free products and still make
a great income.
That was when I found the real formula to make money online.
With any unusual business opportunity, the rule of thumb is, if
you are sincere about wanting to help someone, it is inevitable
that you will see the money start to come in.
This unusual business opportunity was a very good lesson for me
to learn. How else can you earn a good online income as well as
give away quality products to your customers for free?
Keep in mind that if you are new to online business, especially
if you are still not seeing any results, the easiest way to
begin your venture is to join a proven program and give their
product away for free. If you aren't having luck in giving away
free products than you really shouldn't bother selling to
people.
Doing it all on your own is one of the toughest ways to make a
start. Finding a product, setting up a website and making sales
are things that can't be learned over night. It takes time and
experience. Going it alone, you are more likely to fail or your
business will sit stagnant until you learn the basics.
By using a proven, unusual business opportunity and giving away
free products, you can build your confidence, kick start your
online training and prepare yourself for your own big online
business launch later on down the road.

Make Money This Holiday Season; Don’t
Just Spend It
By Liz Folger
What if you could make more money than you spend this holiday season? Sounds
like a pretty good idea, you say? If you’d like to be on the making money
end during the holidays, now is the time to start preparing. Below I’m going
to give you several money-making ideas. Pick the one or two that interest
you the most and have fun!
CRAFTS
It doesn’t matter if you’re into woodworking, sewing, painting, pottery, or
creating handmade paper. More than ever, people enjoy giving that
one-of-a-kind special gift. You can sell your wares via the Net, at holiday
bazaars or craft shows, or even consignment style. Once you become known for
your crafts, word-of-mouth will keep you very busy.
RUBBER STAMPING
One idea is to create your own line of holiday cards with rubber stamps.
Melissa Duquette has found this to be a profitable business. She explains,
“The card season is upon us and everyone will soon be searching for the
perfect holiday card to send to family and friends. This is your opportunity
to break out into business and create unique hand-stamped holiday cards. Or
why not offer a class teaching this great hobby? Rubber stamping can be
worked into so many different businesses.”
I’ve been to a rubber-stamping party where we were able to create our own
cards. I had a great time hanging out with my friends and making my own
unique cards. If you are into rubber stamping, seriously consider having a
rubber stamping card party. You would supply everything needed, and could
charge either a flat fee or charge per card made.
T-SHIRTS
Kim Moya runs a T-shirt business and finds this a way to make extra cash
during the holidays. She says you can create inexpensive holiday
sweatshirts, and long- and short-sleeved T-shirts. And she doesn’t stop at
T-shirts, but also includes tote bags, felt and cloth ornaments, advent and
traditional calendars, aprons and many other items that you can purchase
wholesale and sell at retail prices!
FLEECE BLANKETS
I don’t know about you, but I love fleece blankets. I was really excited
when I found out I could make these awesome “Snuggly” blankets without
having to sew a stitch. Cinda Louden has been making these types of blankets
for a while now and explains, “These blankets are made out of Polar Fleece
material. They are soft, warm, cozy, durable, and wonderfully ‘Snuggly.’
There's no sewing or needlework involved; all you do is cut and tie. Making
Snugglies is a great way to start and create a business, make a little extra
cash, or just make them for gifts. It's all up to you!”
ONLINE AUCTIONS
The hype of eBay has not gone away, but has only grown. When among a group
of people, I can usually find someone who has either bought or sold
something in an online auction. Colleen Wallace has made it her business to
sell merchandise online. “The holiday season is the best time of year for
me. People are always looking for unique and interesting gifts to give their
loved ones. What better place to find something different than the online
auctions,” says Colleen. Start thinking about what you might have that you
could sell online. Colleen has found that the items that sell well are those
that can be used for stocking stuffers, are limited editions, or are signed
items.
BAKING
Then there are the people who cannot stop baking during the holidays. Are
you the type of person who finds that at the close of the season, all of
your neighbors’ refrigerators and cookie jars are bursting at the seams
because baking is just your thing? Believe it or not, this is not the
favorite activity of some people.
Stacy Robinson has found that A Holiday Home Boutique is a fun way to
network with others who provide a holiday-related product or service. Each
vendor displays her product or information about her service, and friends
and neighbors are invited to come to shop and share fellowship.
“As a cake decorator, I sell gingerbread houses, as well as display and
serve a holiday-themed decorated cake - which the hostesses love because
this becomes part of the refreshments! Visitors to the boutique get a chance
to taste and see my cakes, and I take orders for holiday party cakes. I also
display a few ‘dummy cakes’ to showcase my designs for birthdays, weddings,
etc.”
The niche market that has been Stacy’s holiday bread and butter since 1991
is selling gingerbread houses to real estate agents. She leaves a
gingerbread house with order information in large real estate offices for a
few days. She also offers free delivery to the real estate office, or
delivery for a fee to their home-buying customers and other colleagues, such
as mortgage brokers, closing attorneys, etc.
Additional Resources:

Making Money with a Newcomers Welcome Service
By Liz Folger, Founder of bizymoms.comThere is one business that I know for a fact won’t go out of style or not be needed in the coming years if only for the simple fact that people are always on the move. In the last 10 years I’ve moved far more times than I would ever want to admit. Each time I found myself in a new town, I was lost. I had no idea where anything was, where the hangouts were, or what businesses were in the area. I’d always slowly find these things out, but it took time.
How nice it would have been to sign-up for a free service where someone would come to my house, tell me about the new community I had just moved into, and give me a packet of goodies that included coupons, gift certificates, maps etc. That would have saved me a lot of time, and given me a good overview of what to expect in my new town.
Owning your own newcomers welcoming service can be very rewarding. Not only will you be able to make a newcomer feel welcomed and informed, but you can also help local businesses by acquainting them with their future customers. It’s a big win-win situation for you. Perfect if you like making everyone happy.
To run a welcome business you simply talk with local businesses in your area. You explain to them that you will give newcomers who just moved to the community a welcome packet, and you ask if they would like to be included. They might want to give you a special coupon or a gift certificate to include in your welcome packets.
You then decide how you want to have these flyers and coupons printed. You can decide to do it yourself, work with your local printer, or make copies at a local copy shop. Finding these newcomers isn’t too hard either. You can hook-up with realtors and local county records to find potential clients. And, thanks to Bizymoms.com Business Kits, it is now a whole lot easier to find potential new comers.
Bizymoms.com has created a Welcome Service Business Kit that includes everything you need to get this type of business started and running successfully. The kit starts with a workbook specifically for starting a welcome service business. Also included is a marketing ebook, a basic workbook for general business start-up, and 6 months of support. And, if that isn’t enough, you also receive a beautiful lifetime website that has a total of 5 pages. The website is yours forever, and once you pay for the kit, you won’t have to pay anything else for the site…ever.
What’s so incredible about this webpage is the fact that you will become an associate on the website
http://www.yournewtowngreetings.com; which will be promoted throughout the country. Bizymoms will also help you to find newcomers. Potential customers can visit the site, look for an associate in their area, and ask that a packet be delivered to them. It’s that easy.

How To Make Money With Your Own
Virtual Assistant Business By Liz Folger, Work-at-Home Mom Expert
So you want to start your own virtual assistant business.
Great! I assume you want to start your own VA business not only to own your own
business, but also to make money.More
and more businesses are outsourcing and paying VA’s, and there is no reason why
you can’t be one of them.
You’ve got your business name, all the office equipment you
need, and you’ve got the determination to make your business a success. So now
the big question is, how do you go about finding clients?
What Type of Services Will You Provide?
We all have certain areas where our talents and interests
lie. You have so many choices as to what areas you want to special in. There’s
a good chance you already have experience in some of the specialty areas.Maybe you don’t even realize all of the areas
VA’s are working in.
Here’s just a small sampling of the services you could
offer:
Administration
Writing services (technical or creative)
Proofreading and editing, research (online or traditional)
Scheduling
Bill paying
Simple website design
Newsletter distribution
Reminder services
Event planning
Concierge services
Research
Data processing/data management
Desktop publishing
Transcription services
Mail and email services
Telephone/fax services
Internet services
Bookkeeping
Purchasing services
Marketing services
Personal services
Once you know the types of services you are going to offer,
it’s time to find you some clients.
What to Charge
It isn’t too hard to figure out what to charge. Start by
contacting local support service businesses in your area. Ask them if they can
send you a price list. Get several of these to learn what everyone else is
charging. You don’t want to charge too much and you don’t want to under price
yourself so you look like you don’t do great work. Find the happy medium and go
with that amount. Prices are not set in stone.
If you have to change your prices down the road, so be it.
Get Some Business Cards
If you want to look professional, make sure you get your
business cards right away. You never know when you might meet someone who needs
the services you’re offering. When that time comes, all you need to do is pull
out your card and hand it to them. Never be without your business cards!
Here are some great sites where you can get business cards
from free to as low as $10 for 250 cards.
(Click on FREE business cards)

Tell Your Circle of Friends and Family About
Your Business
Since you already have a relationship with your family and
friends, don’t forget to tell them about your new VA business. While your
brother might not need your services, there’s a good chance that he might know
someone who does. You can start networking right away with those you already
know.
Think about designing a letter or oversized postcard about
your service and send it to everyone you know. Maybe even include a picture of
yourself, the name of your business, the services you offer and ask that if
they can’t use your service, to please recommend your business to others who
might.If you send a letter, include a
couple of your business cards for passing on to your possible clients.
Send Out Press Releases
A press release is a great way to start your business off
with a bang. I want to mention here though that a press release is not
something you just send out when you open your business. I’ll talk more about
this a little later.
Here are some great places to find press release tips and
templates:
http://www.press-release-writing.com/press-release-template.htm
http://www.marketingsource.com/pressrelease/releaseformat.html
Where to send your press releases:
Local Newspapers
Local Business Publications
Local Radio Talk Shows
Local TV News Stations
Online sites to send your press release for free:
http://www.prweb.com/aboutg.php
PrWeb is free and you can pick
what area you want your press release
to be distributed to.
Other reasons to send out a press release:
- You’re offering a new service
- Launching a website for your business
- You’ve won a high profile client account or contract
- You’ve had an unusual challenge or adversity and
overcome it; especially when others thought it couldn’t be done.
- You participate in a fundraising event or you are to
serve in a charitable organization.
- You’re offering or sponsoring a workshop, seminar, or conference
- If you’re changing the company name, location, web
address, or product name
I’m The Answer to Your Problem
Convincing your future clients that they should hire you
might seem a little scary at first. But once you build more clients, and they
start telling you what a godsend you are, your confidence level is going to
soar.
Here are some convincing ideas to consider…
Tell your future client why they need you. Maybe you
work odd hours, or you have very reasonable rates. Go over the services you
offer and why you are so good at what you do.
Explain to the client what skills you possess, your
background, and your education.
You can help your client catch-up on a backlog of work
that other employees aren’t able to get to.
You offer reduced costs and expenses for your client.
They don’t have to pay you benefits or sick time.
You will help their business grow with your marketing
techniques.
Thanks to the technology that is currently available,
using your services will save the client money. Explain that you reduce
overhead. They only pay you for work completed. They aren’t paying someone if
there is no work to do. Plus your client doesn’t have to pay for sick or
holiday time, or for health benefits.
It won’t be long until you’re confidence, strong and bright,
shines through. You won’t have any problems explaining to a future client that
you are the right person for the job, or that you are the solution to their
problems.
So What Are You Waiting For?
Making money in a virtual assistant business can be done. Full
time VA’s are making about $38.000 a year. This year, why can’t that VA be you?

Mom Starts Home Business Teaching Parents To Sign to Their Hearing Babies
By Liz Folger, Work-at-home mom expert and founder of Bizymoms.com
Summary: Mom finds she can communicate with her baby, before her son is talking using American Sign Language, and then makes a home business out of it.
You’ve just had this beautiful baby. And then it happens…they cry, they fuss and you have no idea what it is they want. What’s worse is that for the next 13 to 15 months you’re going to have little clue why this new beautiful bundle of joy is upset. But do you really have to wait that long?
“Research has shown that while babies may lack the fine motor skills to speak, they do have the ability to understand and use language as early as 6-7 months. And given the right guidance, they have lots to say - with their hands.” Says Diane Ryan, Kindersigns founder, a certified speech and language pathologist, and an expert when it comes to teaching babies sign language.
So what does this mean exactly? Is Diane telling us that we don’t have to wait until our babies are talking for us to know what they want? This almost sounds too good to be true.
I decided to do a little research and see if this was really possible. I talked with Jill Paron-St. Louis who has a 17-month-old son named Nathan. Nathan has been signing with his mom since he was 10 months old.
Even before Jill was pregnant with Nathan she knew she wanted to teach her baby to sign. Jill graduated with a sign language communications degree in 1994, and was teaching hearing impaired children. Jill explains, “I knew when I eventually had children, that I wanted them to learn how to communicate in American Sign Language. It is a wonderful language and I wanted to introduce it to them out of interest, and if by chance they ever met a child in school one day, they could communicate through Sign Language.”
While Jill was pregnant with Nathan she also started to read many articles about the benefits of teaching hearing babies to sign. She learned that there were many more benefits to signing to a pre-verbal baby than she had ever realized. The only problem was she had no idea how to actually go about teaching signs to her son. She found out about a business opportunity that could teach parents how to sign to their babies and jumped on the idea.
Jill started teaching Nathan to sign when he was ten months old. She didn’t know what to expect at first or how long it would take for him to learn. She says, “I started teaching my son to sign at 10 months, I remember after about 8 weeks thinking he just wasn't getting it. I couldn't help but think I was doing something wrong, but I stuck it out and after 10 weeks of teaching him, he signed back to me! While sitting in his high chair he signed that he wanted "More Cheerios!!" I was so excited!”
Since that first “More Cheerios” sign, Nathan hasn’t stopped signing. He is 17 months old and knows 30 signs and is learning more every day. Besides the signs, his vocabulary is incredible. He now knows about 75 words. Jill explains, “He is a very happy and calm baby. The only times he really gets frustrated is when he can't have something he wants. Otherwise, he is able to tell me what he wants without any frustration. If he's thirsty, or tired, or hungry, or wants me to read him a book he tells me. It's just amazing!!!”
Jill has been able to get her whole family involved too. Her husband and parents, who are 65 years old, have learned sign language so they could talk with Nathan too. Jill says, “This experience has been extremely rewarding for us all!”
Not only has this been an incredible experience for Jill’s family, but she has also been able to create a very rewarding business as well. She is now able to teach other parents to sign to their babies. When Nathan was about 14 months old and was signing back to Jill on a regular basis, Jill felt confident to start teaching other parents. She started her business called, Baby Signers.
Jill held her first baby-signing workshop in May of 2005 at a woman's home and then followed that by giving a private class for her and three of her friends. “I left feeling confident and proud with the information I had given them,” Says Jill. Four months later Jill taught another six private workshops and five public ones with more classes scheduled. She estimates that she has already taught between 65-70 people how to sign to their babies. “It is extremely rewarding and I often get emails from people letting me know that their babies have started to sign back,” Explains Jill.
This business has been perfect for Jill. “I love the freedom that Kindersigns gives. We are able to say that we have been trained by them, but still have complete control over all our marketing and pricing, and in just four months I have made a name for myself,” Says Jill, who is very excited about the future of her business. She hopes to have more babies of her own to teach this special way of communication as well as many new clients down the road.
You don’t need to have to have a degree in sign language or be a speech therapist to teach sign language to parents. Kindersigns will certify you and you’ll be on your way to owning your own business very soon.

New Families Moving To Your Community Need Your Expertise: Get Paid To Share It! It’s estimated that 40 million Americans will be making a move in 2006. Military families, those who have a job transfer, California residents who are tired of the high cost of living, students attending colleges and universities, families moving due to health reasons, they all have something in common. They’re moving to an area they know nothing about and they need your help.
Think back to the last time you moved to a new town. Do you remember how lost you felt? Where were the best schools for your kids? Who were the good doctors? What market had the hard to find items? Where were your daughters going to take dance? Having more questions than answers can be so frustrating and you could spend months learning everything you need to know.
Thanks to a new business career kit targeted at women who want to own a home-based business, new movers don’t have to feel so lost and uninformed in their new town.
“If a woman loves to talk and make new people feel welcome, then this type of home business is perfect for them.” Explains Liz Folger, founder of Bizymoms.com. The Welcome Service career kit is a unique opportunity that allows women who don’t have a business, marketing, or web design background to start their own successful welcome service business in just a matter of weeks.
So many women want to start a home business, but they just have no idea what business to start. Many of them feel frustrated because they don’t feel they have the skills needed to start any type of business. The great thing about a welcome service business is that just knowing about your town, and what it has to offer is really all you need to be successful.
“The career kit includes everything women have been asking for.” Explains Liz Folger. “Often times stay-at-home moms are stopped from starting their own home business because of tax and marketing concerns that turn into fears. This kit dispels the myths and shows them how they can become a home business owner one step at a time.”
The website that is included in the kit is revolutionary. Not only will associates have their own web site, but they can also add information to personalize the site as often as they like. They can send out newsletters to their database, and sponsors and newcomers can order directly from the site.
New residents to the area will appreciate the service, and local businesses will love this approach to advertising. Long time residents turned associates will enjoy recommending their favorite businesses and organizations. A personal recommendation is priceless when it comes to marketing a business.
Here’s how this business works exactly. An associate will work with other businesses in the area. Businesses will love the idea of someone giving their products and or services a personal recommendation. They may even want to include a coupon or a gift certificate for the new comer. The associates can either print the coupon themselves, or work with a local printer.
Associates will then personally deliver welcome packets to new families in the neighborhood. Each packet will contain coupons, maps, gift certificates and other goodies that will help inform new comers of what their new town has to offer. The business will pay a certain amount for each packet that is delivered.
Making sure the new comers use those coupons is important. You want your advertisers to see those coupons coming back to the store. With the database software that you will receive with your website you can simply send an email reminding your new comer to use the coupons. Your email can also include any additional tips or suggestions you feel may help them. You might talk about an upcoming event in the area that they may be interested in knowing about.
Finding families new to your area isn’t going to be hard either, just work with your local Realtors. They will love this “free” service that they can offer to their new buyers. And the new buyers will appreciate the additional help you can give them.
And you don’t have to stop there; new comer packets can be just the beginning. With your website you can offer up to five different packets. New babies packets, new pet packets, and holiday gift packets are just a few of the services you can offer. You can really tailor your particular packets to the area you live in.
The best part of this type of business is that you’re the owner. You can decide if you want to work full or part time. You can work around your kid’s schedule. You can decide how much or how little you want to make. It’s all about being in control of the lifestyle you want for yourself and your family.

Make Money With Your Knowledge And Skills – Start Your Own Tutoring Business
By Liz Folger, Work-at-Home ExpertDo you enjoy teaching others? Are you looking for the flexibility of owning your own business? Would you like to make on an average $25 or more an hour? Then the tutoring business might be the perfect home business for you to start.
Tutors Wanted!
The good news is that there is a growing demand for tutors. Being a tutor isn’t just about academics either. It can be sports, music, and the arts. And it’s just not the kids who are looking for tutors. With so many adults going back to school, adults are actively seeking tutors and coaches to better themselves.
Those who make great tutors are teachers, teacher’s aids, dads, moms, coaches, those who home school, and entrepreneurs. Anyone that has the desire and enjoys teaching will find this a great field to get into.
The nice thing about becoming a tutor is that all you need to say is, “I’m a tutor.” There is no state licensing or certifications, and you don’t need a college degree. While it’s a great selling point if you do have some qualifications, it’s not necessary. Just the fact that you’ve helped your own kids with their homework for many years can establish you as a tutor.
Here are just a few areas that you can choose to tutor:
- All subjects taught in school
- A foreign language, or English as a second language
- Any type of Sport
- Any type of musical instrument
- Voice lessons
- Reading (Children and Adults)
- College Entrance Exams
- Computers (The senior citizen market is a great area to tap into)
- All types of art
This is just a partial list. There are so many areas that could require a tutor.
The Joy Of Owning Your Own Tutor Business
Think about the areas you would like to teach. Don’t be afraid to niche yourself. While at first it might seem like a good idea to tutor all subjects, you’ll find that being considered an expert in one area is the way to go. If down the road you’re tutoring someone in Math who needs additional help in English, and this is something you feel comfortable with, go for it, but finding your niche is always a good thing.
As the owner of your own tutoring business, you can decide the client base with which you’d like to work. If you want to work with kids, you can decide if they will be elementary, middle school, high school, junior college or college. If you find you get along better with middle aged children, then work with them. You no longer have to make money working with people you really don’t enjoy or jive with. That’s the beauty if self-employment.
What Makes You The Expert?
Whether you’re tutoring biology, flute, or soccer; what are your qualifications? Are you a teacher? Do you have a degree in music? Have you been working as a biologist for many years? Now’s the time to toot your horn. Even if you’re a mom or dad who loves a certain subject and has helped your own kids, you can easily say you’ve had this many years helping children in that particular area.
Where And When To Teach
The cost of starting your own tutor business really isn’t that much when compared to other businesses. Most of the time you’ll be teaching in your own home at your kitchen table. You don’t really need any books; your students will bring their own. Anything you need to buy like flyers and business cards, is a tax write off.
When school is in session you’ll find your busiest times will be Monday through Friday from 2:30 PM To 9:00 PM. You can decide the exact hours you want to offer, and if you want to teach on the weekends. You can decide if you want to work in the summer, since sometimes kids need to go to Summer school, or parents simply want their kids to have a jump-start on the next grade.
How much can you really make?
Depending on how much you tutor, in what part of the country you tutor, how in demand you are, and how many students you have all depends on what you’re going to make and what you can charge. Below is a chart based on making $25 an hour, which is about average for a tutor. However, it’s not unheard of for tutors to make as much as $60 an hour!
You Charge $25 An Hour…
Your Work 5 Hours A Week $500/month
…………. 10 Hours A Week $1000/month
…………. 20 Hours A Week $2000/month
…………. 40 Hours A Week $4000/month
Creating your own tutoring business can be fun, challenging, rewarding, and very profitable financially. Find an area you love, an age group you get along with and enjoy teaching, and the sky is the limit.

Make It Your Business To Increase A Childs Self-Worth
By Liz Folger, Work-at-home mom expert and founder of Bizymoms.comHave you ever given your young child some of your junk mail and told them it
was their mail? Did you see how excited they got and how important they
felt? My girls would all of a sudden act like they were very important and "read" their mail as if they were the next big hotshot executives.
One thing I enjoy about children is their honest expression of their
emotions. Of course it isn't pretty when your child decides to throw the
fattest tantrum in the middle of your grocery shopping experience but
really haven't you felt like doing that yourself at times? Imagine how much
better you'd probably feel if you felt that frustration, expressed it, and then
got up, dusted yourself off, and went on your way?
Children have this marvelous way of feeling their emotions, something adults
should look into a bit more themselves. I think that's why as adults we
receive so much pleasure giving our little ones gifts. It sure feels good
when a child you love and adore shows such happy appreciation for something
you've given them.
There's a business out there you can get into that helps increase a child's
self-worth and can make a child very happy. So much so you are sure to
get repeat business from happy parents and relatives. And really, isn't that
the best form of marketing, selling your product to your satisfied customers
over and over again?
When I was a child, I loved Holidays, and actually still do to this day.
Holidays are a magical experience. Then there is the experience of loosing
a tooth or days a child is extra nice to their little brother and sister.
They say positive reinforcement is the best way to remind a child how they
should act. In the article "Why Positive Reinforcement Works," by Brenda L.
Gargus, Brenda said, "Positive communication is a tool to reinforce good behavior
and eliminate bad behavior; it builds self-esteem and inspires confidence in
children."
What if you could actually start a business from home and your
business was to increase a child's self-confidence, and offer a service where
parents could use a form of positive reinforcement with their kids?
An online article at askdrsears.com talks about how
self-esteem as a child effects your adult years. It explains that, "Self-esteem
is your child's passport to lifetime mental health and social happiness.
It's the foundation of a child's well being and the key to success as an
adult. At all ages, how you feel about yourself affects how you act. Think
about a time when you were feeling really good about yourself. You probably
found it much easier to get along with others and feel good about them."
Bizyletters.com offers the above and a whole lot more. Some of you might
have heard about the business of Santa Letters. This is where a parent fills
out a form about the child including information such as the names of their friends, siblings, pets, activities they do very well, etc. Then you use the information to create a very personalized letter for that child and send it to them during the Christmas Holiday.
The Bizyletters opportunity offers Santa Letters, but it also offers
templates for letters from the tooth fairy, the Easter Bunny, the
Great Pumpkin and too many more to mention here.
Wouldn't it be nice if someone asked you what you did for a living and you
could say, "My job is to make children feel very very special and most
importantly loved?" Gifts might come and go, but a letter from Santa, or the
tooth fairy is something parents keep to put in scrapbooks, and baby books.
It's a special memory for a child who has no doubt he must be the most
important person in the world.
